Overview: The Ontario government has extended all emergency orders currently in force that were made under s.7.0.2 (4) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act until July 10, 2020. This follows the extension of the Declaration of Emergency on June 24 until July 15, allowing the province to continue to make or amend emergency orders under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. One change made is the removal of restrictions from certain sport training facilities, enabling facilities to be used by more businesses and organizations to train athletes or run certain events. These activities must strictly occur in a manner that meets public health requirements. This decision was made as part of the gradual reopening of the province, a continuation of Ontario’s Framework for Reopening the Province.

Evidence/Justification: This decision was made in consultation with Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. The justification provided for the extension of emergency orders is to allow key measures that aid the fight against COVID-19 to continue, such as allowing public health units and health care providers to redeploy staff as required. It also assists provincial decision-makers to guide the province through the next stage of reopening and into the future, following Ontario’s Framework for Reopening the Province.
