Overview: Order 03-2020: All visitors, except essential visitors, are restricted from attending a health care facility including hospitals, nursing homes, supportive living accommodations, and lodge accommodations. Essential visitors are persons who are designated as the resident’s alternate decision maker and someone who provides care and companionship to the resident. Resident’s family, religious leaders, and friends may attend a health care facility if a resident is dying so long as the visit is approved by the designated essential visitor. Only one individual may visit at any time, and a health assessment must be conducted including taking the person’s temperature and having them respond to a questionnaire. Each visit must be recorded with the date and time. This intervention is targeted at protecting vulnerable persons (such as those who are over the age of 60 or those with comorbidities) who may be at an increased risk for severe symptoms from COVID-19.
