Overview: The Manitoba Minister of Education, Kelvin Goertzen, announced the suspension of classes in Manitoba K-12 schools, effective March 23 to April 10th. This was recommended by the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer, Dr. Brent Roussin, with the intended effects being to limit the impact of COVID-19 on communities in Manitoba.

Evidence/Justification: The closure of schools was recommended by Chief Provincial Public Health Officer, Dr. Brent Roussin. In the news conference, Dr. Roussin described that this recommendation was made after ongoing consultations with stakeholders, as well as reviewing actions taken by other jurisdictions in Canada and across the world. He described these actions as proactive, with the intended effects to limit the impact of COVID-19 on communities in Manitoba.
