12 June 2020 – Time period to convert temporary layoff to permanent termination extended

Overview: In an effort to maintain the employer-employee relationship and provide employers with additional time to recall their employees during COVID19, the Provincial Government has extended the time period that converts a temporary layoff into a permanent termination. Permanent termination was defined as temporary layoff longer than 13 weeks in a period of 20 weeks. This has been extended to 26 weeks in 30 weeks.
