Overview: The Ontario government has announced that beginning May 11, retail stores with street entrances that enable them to offer curbside pick up and delivery will be allowed to open. Easing restrictions on retail stores is part of Ontario’s Framework for Reopening our Province, Protect and Support. The government urges business owners to follow the available safety guidelines to protect staff, consumers, and the general public which were developed by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, its health and safety association partners, and the Ministry of Health.

Evidence/Justification: The justification for this action is that it aligns with the province’s reopening framework that was developed in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts. The framework sets out criteria that the Chief Medical Officer of Health and health experts are using that will advise the government on adjusting or loosening public health measures.
