Overview: The Ontario government is providing more financial support for innovative businesses through the Ontario Together Fund. This funding serves as a means to retool production and increase capacity to make more personal protective equipment. This announced funding for three companies: Southmedic, Sterling Industries, and SRB Technologies. The goals of providing funding to these three companies is to increase production of PPE and help the province meet needs and production goals for such products, as well as other medical devices.

Evidence/Justification: The funding provided to Southmedic, Sterling Industries, and SRB Technologies was distributed from the provinces Ontario Together Fund. This is in response to Ontario’s call to action for businesses to develop innovative solutions to contribute to slowing the spread of COVID-19, and these companies were chosen from the application portal. The goal of these investments in local manufacturers is to keep frontline workers and communities safe during COVID-19 and meet the province’s PPE production goals.
