Overview: Government moves to protect UK research jobs with a major support package, which will give greater job protection to thousands of researchers, scientists and technicians working at UK universities during coronavirus. The University Support Package of loans and grants will cover up to 80% of their income losses caused by an expected decline in international students, compared with overseas student revenue in 2018/19. The package will support up to 100% of non-publicly funded research.
