29 March 2020 – Banned public gatherings and events with more than 50 participants

Overview: The Swedish Government, on the advice from the Public Health Agency of Sweden, banned all gatherings, indoors and outdoors of more than 50 participants until further notice.

This ordinance uses the power of the Public Order Act (Chapter 2, Section 15) which allows the prohibition of public gatherings and events if this is necessary to combat an epidemic.

The ban comes into effect on the 29th of March 2020 and is punishable with fines or up to 6 months in jail. It replaces the earlier ban on gatherings and events with more than 500 participants.
