Overview: An antibody test that detects immunity against Covid-19 with more than 98% reliability supplied by Spanish National Research Council (CSIC)
A team of researchers from Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in collaboration with the Immunology Services of the University Hospital of The Princess and the University Hospital of La Paz has developed new antibody tests that reveal the immunity against Covid-19 with 98% reliability. The tests will be produced by the Spanish company Immunostep, in ELISA (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay) kit format. It is expected that Spanish diagnostic hospitals will have these diagnostic tests within a month and a half.
The CSIC groups of researchers Hugh Reyburn, Mar Valés, José María Casasnovas and José Miguel Rodriguez Frade have managed to identify a new protein that works as an antigen and combine it with other viral antigens in a serological test with reliability greater than 98%.
