01 December 2020 – Acquisition oif Janssen, Moderna and CureVac vaccines authorsied

Type of Intervention: Specific Action
Sectors Involved: Health
Level of Jurisdiction: National
Lead People/Agency: Ministry of Health

Overview: The government agrees the authorization for the acquisition of the Janssen, Moderna and CureVac vaccines
Overview: In accordance with the provisions of the agreement between Janssen and the Commission, Spain will have 20,875,725 vaccines, predictably distributed throughout 2021. Regarding Moderna, as established in the agreement between this company and the European Commission, Spain has 8,348,979 initial doses in total, also distributed throughout 2021. It should be remembered that this vaccine requires two doses per immunization, therefore the number of immunizations is half the number of doses. The European Commission has also agreed with CureVac, on behalf of the participating countries, an agreement with a purchase obligation that entails the purchase for Europe of 225 million doses of a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2. Of these, Spain has 23,483,184 doses distributed, predictably, from the first quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022. This vaccine also requires two doses per immunization, so the number of immunizations, in the same way as in cases above, corresponds to half the dose.
