Overview: In line with physical distancing measures annouced by the Dutch Government, the Public Body of Bonaire has issued an emergency law outlining mesaures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Caribbean Netherlands.
This includes enforcing the Dutch Government’s temporary ban on flights from high risk countries to Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, as well as banning public events, meetings and activities of more than 50 people on the island of Bonaire. It also requires businesses selling food and drink to ensure physical distancing and a maximum of 50 customers at all times.
Sport and gym facilities (including swimming pools, sports halls, saunas and sports fields), as well as churches, public buildings, nurseries and schools have been forced to close from 18 March 2020.
Certain exceptions have been made to ensure childcare services remain open to children whose parents work in essential jobs, and the continuation of exams for secondary schools.
