Intervention Categories: Social and physical distancing measures; Gatherings, businesses, and services; Domestic travel
Level of Jurisdiction: National
Overview: The French Government asked that all people stay home and limit group gatherings until April 15.
People who leave their home for an outing must carry a certificate of authorization, which can be printed from the Government’s website and which states into which exemption category the outing falls.
The exemption categories include travel for work if remote work is not possible, travel to purchase essential goods, travel for medical consultation, travel to assist a family member, and individual physical activity or walking a pet within 1 kilometer of home.
People already carrying a professional permit to travel between their work and home do not need to additionally carry the personal permit.
They also required all people traveling between home and work, or traveling elsewhere for work, to carry a permit. The professional permits must be issued by the employer for the employee and the employer determines the duration for which the permit applies.
The permit template could be printed from the Coronavirus page on the French government’s website.
The ordinance notes that state and local authorities will make the limit on outings more restrictive at a later date if necessary.
