Overview: The French government prohibited any cruise ship from docking or anchoring in French territorial seas or in land waters after March 30.
Additionally, the decree outlawed boats coming to or leaving from French ports to carry more than 100 passengers on board, or to exceed one fourth the capacity of the ship. Passengers taking long boat trips or traveling internationally by boat are expected to present documents justifying their travel at French ports.
The article asks that in general, any passenger boat reduces the number of passengers in order to respect social distancing on board. It advises that passengers are expected to be at least one meter apart unless this proves impossible. It indicates that boats without soap and water will be supplied with hand sanitizer.
Any maritime forces or boats carrying medical supplies were exempted from this rule. Some of these rules also apply to French Polynesia and New Caledonia.
