Overview: In order to maintain rail traffic between Vienna and Salzburg, the Ministry of Climate Protection (BMK) will order train connections from ÖBB and WESTbahn on April 20, 2020. The order is worth 48.3 million euros for the next three months (40 million ÖBB, 8.3 million WESTbahn) and will be carried out by means of an emergency award. The BMK commissioning brings the following changes for customers with it: From then on, trains of the ÖBB and the WESTbahn will provide connections in half-hourly intervals in a common timetable. Purchased tickets – whether issued by ÖBB or WESTbahn – are accepted on all trains for this period.
