Overview: Cabinet Decree that authorizes the Minister of Health on behalf of the Republic of Panama, to sign the Commitment Agreement (committed purchase), of the World Vaccination Mechanism (COVAX) of the accelerator of access to tools with GAVI ALLIANCE, for the vaccines against COVID-19, for an amount of US $ 11,836,045.00 for the acquisition of one million one hundred twenty-one thousand nine hundred (1,121,900) doses of approved vaccines.

Evidence/Justification: PAHO has been represented by the Revolving Fund for the Acquisition of Vaccines; which is the world’s largest vaccine joint procurement mechanism for self-financing countries. PAHO contributed to the design of the COVAX mechanism in May and June. In the Technical Design Document of the COVAX mechanism of June 11, the PAHO Revolving Fund mechanism was recognized as a unified block, representing 42 participating Member States.
