Overview: Executive Decree No. 271 of April 20, 2020, through which, as part of humanitarian aid in the face of the CoVid-19 pandemic, the Executive issued the aforementioned decree through which it grants the third reduction of prison sentence and the corresponding accessory pending penalty to 55 deprived of liberty. The reduction of sentence is a legal institution proper to the administrative individualization of criminal execution, Law 19 of May 3, 2010, dictates the organizational regime of the Ministry of Government end empowers it to intervene in the granting of sentence reductions, to inmates who have committed common crimes. To date, 149 inmates have being benefited with the measure.
