01 May 2020 – Eviction processes suspended, rent freeze for up to two months after the state of emergency ends

Overview: Executive Decree No. 145 of May 1, 2020, through which measures are taken the leases, launch and eviction process due to the health crisis caused by the CoVi-19 pandemic, that has produced the loss of jobs, suspension of the effects of contacts and commercial and industrial activities, which makes it impossible to pay the leases on time, for private or commertial purposes, the current situation requires the intervention of the Executive Branch to establish the mechanisms that guarantee compliance with the rights and obligations of both parties to the relationship, therefore has being decreed that the eviction processes has been suspended. For contracts ending during the emergency period, they will be extended for the duration of this decree.
Freezing of rent amounts is ordered during and up to two months after the end of the state of emergency.
