Overview: ADVANCES IN THE PREPARATION PLAN FOR CORONOVIRUS.
On March 8th, 2020, the highest authority of the Health Ministry, MINSA, stated that Nicaragua has a Protocol for the preparation and response to the risk of introduction of the new coronavirus virus (COVID-19). As of March 8th, Nicaragua had no cases of COVID-19.
Although this document was mentioned in a brief, it was not officially shared by the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (Minsa). However, the document was leaked by Confidencial, an independent news journal. It is a guide for the clinical approach to COVID-19 disease.

Evidence/Justification: The document refers to the action protocol once there are positive patients confirmed as well as the measures to be taken at the level of the care center (Hospital or Health Center). It emphasizes the care that all hospital personnel must have in dealing with patients but it does not address preventive measures at the nation level.
At the time that the document publication (February), suspected cases were only considered if they were people who had come from China.
