Overview: The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele announced the new provisions to be implemented during the state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The president ordered that public and private sector employees, over 60 years of age, pregnant women and people with chronic diseases or immunosuppression should be sent home for a period of 30 days, as it is a sector of the vulnerable population at the spread of the coronavirus.

“The Minister of Labor is going to make this happen, and if not, companies will be subject to fines,” Bukele explained.
