16 November 2020 – Mandatory masks for public transport in Auckland and domestic flights

Overview: Masks will need to be worn on all public transport in Auckland and in and out of Auckland and on domestic flights throughout the country from this Thursday. Exceptions are for passengers of private travel (uber and taxi) however the drivers must wear a mask. Students 12 and under are exempt and school buses, charter services and tours are exempt. The intention is an educative and encouraged approach. Police can enforce the rules but is seen as a last resort. Transport drivers are not seen as responsible for enforcing the requirements at this early stage.
