Lead People/Agency: Fiji’s Hon. Prime Minister, Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama is the person leading the decision on the intervention and the Minister for Education. Hon. Rosy Akbar took the lead in the implementation of ensuring that schools are closed till further notice.

Overview: Due to COVID-19, the Ministry of Education, Heritage and the Arts, has announced that schools will remain closed until 12 June 2020. This is in regards to the health and well-being of the nation’s students in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All schools will be closed including Private schools and Day Care centers.

Parents have been advised to contact the Heads of school for additional resources (to aid their student while they stay home). Children are encouraged to stay tuned to Radio Fiji One and Radio Fiji Two for the daily radio programmes and also access Ministry’s Walesi Channel 9 that is on trial operations.

Classes are expected to resume from 16 June 2020.
