Overview: The Foreign Secretary has appealed to Overseas Sri Lankans to rethink plans to be repatriated unless in compelling circumstances. The Foreign Secretary has called on migrant workers as well as students and parents to carefully consider the effect repatriation at this time could have on their jobs and education, before making the decision to seek a return to Sri Lanka, taking note of of the limited flights being operated by the Government for those facing compelling circumstances. Help is being provided to the most vulnerable through various networks of 67 Missions, 16 where the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment is also present, in order to try and provide dry rations (and where necessary medicines) so that the problems they face can be managed.
