Overview: Seoul’s metropolitan government announced a suspension of business for clubs and bars in the city.
Under the ban, effective 9 May, all clubs, bars, and other nightlife venues in Seoul will be prohibited from hosting crowds of people, effectively shuttering operations until further notice. The city did not specify a date of reopening.
The move comes in response to a cluster outbreak of COVID-19, which has been connected to dozens of infections to date, after a person who later tested positive for COVID-19 visited five clubs and bars in Seoul on 2 May.
