Overview: The Melaka Government is halving the monthly rentals for houses meant for lower-income groups in the state. Chief Minister Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali said those living in People’s Housing Projects (PPR) in four areas would get a 50% discount on monthly rentals for a period of six months starting from March. The incentive is meant to reduce the burden faced by the locals in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Evidence/Justification: Many of those living in these houses lost their incomes during the movement control order (MCO). Thus, the government is helping these people to overcome the financial burden faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
