Overview: Japan’s Imperial House announced the cancellation of the public celebrations of Emperor Naruhito’s birthday, which were scheduled for 23 March. This would have been a large-scale event: “In December 2018, nearly 82,000 people visited the palace for Emperor Akihito’s final birthday address”.
