Overview: Onboard quarantine has been implemented on the Diamond Princess in accordance with the Quarantine Act. Those who have tested positive have been escorted to medical institutions in Kanagawa Prefecture, and have been hospitalized in accordance with the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with Infectious Diseases. The cruise ship Westerdam from Hong Kong (one of the passengers alleged to be infected by the virus) is scheduled to make a port call in Japan soon. The Cabinet has approved to deny entry to Japan by foreign nationals who meet certain criteria in accordance with the Immigration Control and Refugee Act. We also intend to deny the entry of foreign nationals onboard the Westerdam, unless there are special circumstances, in accordance with said act.
