Overview: The Governor of Dhi Qar, Nazem Hamid Al-Waeli, announced new preventive security measures following the increase in the Corona virus cases in the province, including a comprehensive curfew and the closure of all major and secondary roads and public gathering places. He announced that it was decided to implement a comprehensive and complete curfew on vehicles and individuals throughout the city center and its suburbs without exception.

Al-Waeli also decided, to continue the disruption of working hours in all government departments and institutions until further notice, except for the security and health departments, banks, water production and distribution stations, electricity, their maintenance departments, sewage maintenance departments, and sewage stations.” He directed to close and stop all commercial and sports activities, restaurants and cafes, and all private clinics, except pharmacies, food and vegetable stores, bakeries and approved petrol stations.

The governor pointed out that starting from 6 am, Friday, June 12, 2020, the Dhi Qar Police Directorate and their departments shall close all major roads, external, internal, and the entrances and exits of cities, and all residential areas, and prevent population gatherings of all forms. Dhi Qar Governor stressed to strictly enforce the ban on all except for the lorries transporting food, medical and fuel materials, and wheels belonging to the excluded departments and their cadres. The Dhi Qar Traffic Directorate should hold those responsible for the most violations in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in this regard.

The Governor called on all citizens to not leave their houses, except for the extreme necessity, and to commit to implementing safety and health protection measures, wearing medical masks and gloves, and implement social distancing when outside, and to cooperate with the security services in implementing the ban procedures.
