Overview: The Ministry of Health declared that the city of Pemba, in the province of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, is the second location in Mozambique to see community transmission of the new coronavirus. This was based on the high positive percentage of samples tested (twice the national average of 3 percent), high interpersonal transferability, and change in the demographic profile of reported cases, coupled with rapid progression of the pandemic.
