Overview: The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, announced, that afternoon in Maputo, in a communication to the Nation, the reinforcement of the preventive measures of COVID-19:
– suspension of classes in all public and private establishments, from pre-school to higher education;
– reduction from 300 to 50 the maximum number of people in social events, except activities of strictly public interest;
– creation of a Technical-Scientific Commission, which is constituted by cadres from public health, media, social scientists, and other sectors, with the specific task of advising the Government regarding the functional preventive measures of COVID-19 in the country, as well as in making decisions based on scientific evidence and also in support if there is a need for social mobilisation;
– suspension of the issuance of entry visas to Mozambique, as well as the cancellation of those that have already been issued, as well as the imposition of protection measures by all public and private institutions, where work or other activities take place.
