19 March 2020 – Mandatory 14-day quarantine for citizens from affected countries

Overview: The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, announced measures to prevent COVID-19, as part of the Government’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus in the country:

– implementation of mandatory 14-day quarantine for all citizens from countries with active transmission, regardless of whether they are Mozambicans or not;
– suspension of the organisation and participation in all types of events with more than 300 people and discourage from events taking place in closed spaces and without adequate ventilation;
– isolation of all cases with severe symptoms, and screening of all citizens, within the same scope, at the entrance points of the country, as well as the suspension of all state travels outside the country;
– increase the dissemination of COVID-19 prevention measures on public and private institutions and request everyone to make efforts to make the new coronavirus difficult to reach Mozambique.
