Overview: The National Security Council (CNS) met on June 11, 2020 to review the course of Coronavirus disease. Taking into account the report of the Scientific Committee and after analyzing the data, it notes the evolution of the number of positive cases, three (3) months after the start of the pandemic in Côte d’Ivoire. This development is in line with forecasts. The increase recorded since the beginning of June 2020 is linked to the targeted screening strategy and the non-application of barrier measures by the populations. There was a good screening and treatment policy. Despite the reopening of schools and universities in the interior of the country, the epicenter still remains the great Abidjan. The National Security Council, based on the advice of the Scientific Committee, will continue to analyze the characteristics of the pandemic for a further period of two (2) weeks. He makes important decisions:
-strengthen the capacity to diagnose and manage the disease within the country, given the high probability of a longer duration of the pandemic.
– maintaining the state of emergency;
– maintaining the closure of land, air and sea borders;
– maintaining the closure of bars, nightclubs, cinemas and places of entertainment;
– maintaining the isolation of Greater Abidjan, by strengthening entry / exit control and by sanctioning cases of violation;
– maintaining the ban on population gatherings, beyond 200 people for the interior of the country;
– maintaining the ban on population gatherings in Abidjan, the maximum authorized of which is now reduced from 200 to 50 people;
– systematic health monitoring of all persons coming from outside the country;
-the requisition of additional accommodation capacity in Greater Abidjan;
-the installation of capacities to deal with mild, severe forms and contact cases within the country;
-strengthening the control of the obligation to wear a mask, in particular through community awareness and repression.
These decisions are valid until June 30, 2020.
