Intervention Categories: Social and physical distancing measures; Gatherings, businesses, and services
Level of Jurisdiction: National

Overview: The French government announced a ban on gatherings of more than 5,000 people.

They also asked that local governments cancel large events in closed spaces and events in open spaces that might draw people from other areas of France, like the Paris Half Marathon.

On March 4, the French government clarified that gatherings like sporting events, outdoor markets were not necessarily banned under this law, unless they were likely to bring people from areas of France with higher infection rates, and asked that sick people not attend public gatherings.
