Overview: Costa Rica and the United Nations System will undertake a health cooperation plan for the Northern region of the country, which reaffirms the close ties of strategic collaboration that will bring together joint efforts to meet the challenges of dealing with the pandemic caused by COVID-19. The cooperation health plan hopes to respond to the needs that the country faces in the context of the pandemic and will link local and national efforts by Costa Rica with the efforts of the institutional system of the United Nations System. The plan aims to provide answers to the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has posed to Costa Rica, and seeks to articulate global efforts, with local efforts, to guarantee appropriate conditions for the inhabitants, which guarantee their health and well-being, together with respect for human rights and international health standards. These bilateral and multilateral approaches carried out by Costa Rica have reinforced Costa Rican leadership in the multilateral arena.
