14 April 2020 – Private bank defers loan payments, Diyala strengthens curfew

Overview: -In the city of Baghdad, a statement was issued by the media office of the Rafidain Bank, Baghdad and reported that due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, the bank decided to postpone deduction of private-sector loans for a period of two months, starting from 1/3/2020 until 4/30/2020, and the deferred loans include construction loans, compound loans- Basmaya Residential (employees/citizens), Car loans (employees/citizens), small business loans, artist loans, scientific research financing loans, Karrada explosion loans, Shorja fire loans, commercial loans.

– The Crisis Cell in Diyala Governorate issued several decisions during the meeting it held in the local administration building in Baquba. Among the decisions is instructing the municipalities of Diyala and the municipality of Baquba to take the necessary actions to allocate residential plots for Diyala health personnel and employees of the security forces, and to extend the comprehensive curfew in all districts of Diyala until next Saturday, 18/4/2020, in addition to extending the ban on the entry of vegetables from Alawah Clar to Diyala until April 18. It was also decided that visitors from the affected provinces will be restricted from entering Diyala and the citizens of Diyala were advised to not visit those governorates until the risk of the virus has disappeared. The Cell also announced that the movement of agricultural harvesters between regions will only be allowed following the mechanisms approved by the government crisis cell and that border ports will remain closed until the health condition is stabilized. The cell also decided to inform the Iraqi Army Chief of Staff to not allow military personnel from Coronavirsus-infected provinces to join their units in Diyala at the present time to avoid the transmission of the virus.
