Overview: Fourth round of national ENE-COVID seroprevalence study begins
The ENE-COVID study is a sero-epidemiological investigation that began last April and that seeks to provide estimates of the prevalence of infection by SAS-CoV-2, present or past, to increase knowledge about the evolution of the pandemic.
This fourth round of national ENE-COVID seroprevalence study is coordinated by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Innovation through the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), and is the only one in the world that allows calculating with very high rates of rigor and precision data on the percentage of infections on a population scale.
The completion of this fourth round was agreed by the autonomous communities within the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System on September 9.
The study will serve to boost research on the duration of antibodies in people who were infected in the first wave of the epidemic.
