15 August 2020 – Isolation of neighbourhoods within regions affected by COVID-19

Lead People/Agency: The Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with municipalities through the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, are isolating these cities.

Overview: After recording peak numbers of new infections with the new Corona virus, the decision was taken to begin isolating some neighborhoods within the regions: Tariq al-Jadida in the capital Beirut, Burj al-Barajneh in Baabda district, Burja in the Chouf district, Bab al-Tabbaneh in Tripoli, and monitoring the development of the epidemic in the following areas: Ras Beirut and Hamra in Beirut, Haret Hreik, Hadit, Bir Hassan and al-Jinnah in Baabda and Aramoun districts in Aley district which we may have to isolate later.

Evidence/Justification: The upward curve during the last two weeks of the epidemic, and the recording of virus infection chains in most Lebanese regions, necessitated everyone to show responsibility and cooperation so that we do not have to go into a general closure after the recent high number of deaths.
