Overview: The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, decreed this Wednesday quarantine of 30 days throughout the country, as a preventive measure for the pandemic of the coronavirus COVID-19 and the increase in cases in the Central American region.
Bukele maintained that it is not a decision they have taken lightly, along with the government cabinet.
“The economic impact that this will have has been evaluated, but the economic impact pales in tandem with the number of deaths that we could have and sick (…) with a pandemic that neither Italy nor South Korea are prepared for. not to stop it, not Germany … Much less El Salvador or any country in the region, “added the president.
The Ministry of Education will suspend classes at a public and private level for a period of 21 days. Bukele pointed out that all educational institutions must abide by this provision that comes into effect as of this Wednesday.
“In order to protect the health of our students, they must decree the suspension of educational activities,” said the Salvadoran president.
Despite the quarantine, commercial activities will not stop, entrepreneurs will continue to import and export products, “under due sanitary control in those areas that require it”, and thus try to maintain an economic balance, Salvadorans will continue to carry out their tasks daily and attending their jobs normally, abiding by the prevention measures promoted by the Executive.
